Brexit Blue Economy Enterprise Development Scheme

 A €1.5 million fund to help businesses in the blue economy sector adapt and thrive post-Brexit

The Brexit Blue Economy Enterprise Development Scheme is a new initiative aimed at supporting businesses operating in the blue economy and located in coastal communities affected by Brexit.

The scheme provides eligible businesses with funding for business mentoring and capacity development, enabling them to adapt to the new market realities and opportunities post-Brexit. With €1.5 million in funding available, this is a unique opportunity for eligible businesses to develop their businesses and maximise current and future opportunities.

Who is Eligible?

Businesses or individuals engaged in the blue economy located within 10km of the coastline are eligible to apply.

The blue economy sectors eligible for funding include

• Small Non-Commercial Harbour/Pier Activities,
• Boat Building and Repair,
• Coastal Tourism,
• Marine Leisure and Sport,
• Seafood, and
• Renewable Energy Initiatives supporting the Blue Economy.

Applicants must be entrepreneurial initiatives and must be a micro or small enterprise.

What is Funded?

Under Project Type 2 of the scheme, eligible businesses can receive up to €10,000 or 50% of the cost, whichever is lower, for participation in recognised business mentoring and capacity-building programmes.

This can include services in areas such as

• product/process development,
• business model development,
• service delivery and customer experience improvement,
• new service development,
• business planning or strategy development,
• financial planning,
• marketing & promotion,
• mentoring in respect of website planning, export and distribution.
