Enterprise Ireland

Digital Discovery

The Digital Discovery grant is designed to help companies create a roadmap for their digital transformation.

The grant provides financial support for external consultancy costs to develop a digital strategy, typically over an 8-12 week period.

The focus of the grant is on areas such as skills assessment, process flow efficiency, exploration of new digital opportunities, and review of cyber-security measures.

Eligibility

To be eligible for the Digital Discovery grant, companies must meet certain criteria.

  • Client companies of Enterprise Ireland who employ 10 or more full-time staff can apply.
  • High Potential Start-Up clients of Enterprise Ireland who employ 5 or more full-time staff are also eligible.
  • Companies who are not clients of Enterprise Ireland, Local Enterprise Offices, Údarás na Gaeltachta or IDA Ireland but employ 10 or more full-time staff in manufacturing or eligible services industries can also apply.

Eligible Activities

The digital strategy development should cover the discovery, exploration and planning of digital opportunities. This includes analysis of existing systems, process flow efficiency, use of data, skills assessment, and cyber-security measures.

A strategic roadmap for digitalization should be co-developed with the company leadership and the consultant.

  1. Discovery
This phase involves analysing existing systems, assessing process flow efficiency, evaluating the use of data to drive the business, and evaluating the digital mindset and culture of innovation within the company. Additionally, the review of the company’s cyber-security strategy and processes will also be carried out.
  2. Exploration
This phase aims to improve process flow with Lean-digital systems and explore opportunities for digital services or products. It also involves exploring the use of digital data systems to inform decision making across the company and the measurement and reduction of waste, energy, and emissions.
  3. Planning
This phase involves co-developing a strategic roadmap for digitalization with the company leadership and the consultant. The roadmap should include a clear understanding of the current state of digital maturity and gaps, opportunities for digital innovation in products, services, or processes, and a future vision and defined action plan.
