Social Media Trends for 2015

We are all aware that social media is taking the centre stage within the digital world. So, what are seven trends that we can expect to witness in the coming year? Let us take a more in-depth look.

1. The Rise of Google+
While overshadowed by large networks, Google+ is on the rise in terms of business exposure. As a membership will now directly contribute to search rankings, this platform is quickly becoming important.

2. On-The-Fly MarketingMonitoring trends and pipelines in a real-time scenario has now become a reality thanks to high-speed Internet. This will help to refine sales campaigns and target more discrete demographics

3. Seeing (and Hearing) is Believing

Pictures, infographics and embedded videos are all on the rise. As the user base becomes more accustomed to this visual mentality, social media sites will employ targeted content to (hopefully) better address the viewer in question.

4. Organic Content

As customers are becoming more Internet savvy, content will experience a shift towards organic marketing as opposed to product-oriented pitches. These levels of client engagement may very well change the landscape of social media.

5. Out-of-Pocket Costs?

Companies will need to increase their budgets to allocate more resources into social media marketing. This has already been seen in changes to Facebook algorithms and paid advertisements on Instagram. While these and other trends are likely to prove quite effective from a marketing standpoint, it is already assumed that in the future, businesses will need to devote more of their finances to stay ahead of this evolving curve.

6. M-Commerce

Perhaps one of the most important trends is that more users than ever before are accessing social media with portable devices such as smartphones and tablets. So, good social media platforms will be able to geographically target their customers and provide valuable client feedback in a real-time scenario. Also, more mobile-friendly widgets and web pages will need to come into existence to streamline user experiences.

7. PBM Integration

Private Blog Networks are no longer so “private”. In simpler terms, these will now be hyperlinked to social media sites to enjoy further exposure. As the overlords at Google love fresh and organic content, this only makes sense. With such integration, a site will be able to enjoy a greater online presence and higher SERP rankings.

While Google+ is likely to feature high on the list, traditional sites such as Twitter, Facebook and Pinterest will likewise be employed.
